Teeph, the three-piece from Chico, CA plays heavy, noisy, odd music. Widowmaker completes a transition that began with 2014's Solid Jobs EP. Teeph have left behind some of their more frenetic, spastic tendencies in favor of something more focused, thoughtful and melodic. It's still heavily influenced by Botch, Converge, Melvins, Melt Banana, and Big Business — it just tends toward their slightly more under-control sides. Loud, often chaotic but with lovingly crafted songs, Widowmaker clocks in at 24 minutes of blissful cacophony.
This four song suite was mixed and engineered by drummer Alex Coffin, their first in-house production. He's created an record that's all at once dirty and noisy, yet somehow harmonious and warm.
